University of Stirling Sport – Gym Orientation

Hi, and welcome to the University of Stirling Sport. This short video will guide you through everything you need to know to start using our gym facility We ask that all customers complete their induction before using the gym. Remember, if you prefer, you can meet up with one of our dedicated Fitness Officers who can run you through the induction personally. Also, keep up to date with what’s going on by following us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Regardless of your level of experience, here are a few things you should know – Our gym is open seven days a week – You should have received your membership card, hold it against the scanner at the desk to enter the gym. As you enter the gym you’ll find our reception team, with them you’ll be able to discuss memberships, signing up to classes and booking facilities. Don’t forget – you can book classes online. Your safety is our priority so for first aid assistance and other queries a member of staff is always available. There are four emergency exits located in each corner of the gym. The fire alarms are tested every Tuesday morning and will sound for no longer than twenty seconds. No action should be taken unless the alarm continues to sound. In the event of an actual alarm we ask you to leave through the closest or safest exit and gather at the designated fire evacuation point. Our Fitness Officer team can guide and support you to make the most of your time in the gym. Whether that’s showing you how to use a specific piece of kit or answering your fitness queries. They are here to help. We have changing rooms and showers located immediately outside the gym for your convenience and comfort. Lockers are available and we ask you to store your bags away before using the gym. Lockers on the gym floor take a refundable pound coin and those in the changing rooms require a padlock, which you can purchase from the reception desk. There are multiple cleaning stations located around the gym and we ask members to use these to wipe down equipment so that it is ready for others to use. Our gym is equipped with modern and easy-to-use fitness equipment There are several sections to the gym including – a fifty station Precor cardio suite. Easy to use, pin adjusted fixed resistance machines. Cable machines with multi-functional attachments. Multiple dumbbell areas, with weights of up to sixty kilograms. Lifting platforms equipped with Eleiko bars and plates. Large functional fitness spaces. Dedicated MYZONE areas where you can monitor your workout effort by yourself, with friends or in classes. We also have an indoor cycling studio and fitness class studio both kitted out with a variety of group fitness equipment. We encourage you to use these areas outwith class and sports club times. If you need one of the Fitness Officers to walk you through using the Precor cardio machines we can guide you on how to log in, or simply quick start the machine. You can also access the internet and numerous television or radio channels on the touch screens. You can find more information about our classes and other activities on our website.
