Did you know that the National Foundation for Credit Counseling found that among active duty veterans and family members, 63% were experiencing stress due to their current financial situation. And 37% reported feeling insecure about their financial futures? This financial stress can lead to a decline
in mental health and so we put an equal focus on providing mental health supports to our veterans. One innovative way we do that is through technology and mental health apps. Here are three apps that we have used with active duty, veterans and their families. Centered is a mediation and mindfulness app from Blue Cross Blue Shield that allows users to set goals for daily steps and weekly meditation sessions. Calm is an app that utilizes a variety of
mindfulness meditation techniques for those who are looking for a way to reduce stress and anxiety in their lives. Developed by a team of mental health experts at the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and Ozark center, the Help Kids Cope App is an excellent reference and guide designed to assist parents when talking to their children while preparing for a disaster, when experiencing a disaster, and after going through a disaster.
