who you're becoming is far more important than what you're doing and yet it is that what you're doing that determines who you're becoming I believe that how you start your morning sets the tone for the entire day if you wake up feeling dreaded or wake up with so much resistance you will drag that feeling throughout a day whereas if you kick off your day with positive habits you are priming yourself so you have such a great positive outlook for today so I want to share some practices I try to do in the morning and the purpose behind each of them remember it's always the Y that's far more important than what you're doing and I'm not perfect and I certainly don't get to do this every single day but for those who want to join me I did make a have a tracker sheet that you can download for free in the description box below I would highly encourage you guys to stick it onto your fridge and take this as a fun new challenge a smooth morning routine starts from the night before the last thing I want to feel in the morning is feeling rushed so I tried to streamline prepare and automate things as much as possible the night before so I can really savor and enjoy every single minute of the morning that mutator tips hang out tomorrow's to-do list plan how's Norma's outfit find out tomorrow's breakfast or lunch and I even prepped my coffee tonight before and this is to avoid any decision fatigue from happening and research has shown that our cognitive brain function is at its peak in the morning so I if we want to take advantage of that that precious function focus and energy to something that actually matters waking up for me everything starts with determination if I decided to trade my personal development seriously I will trade this time seriously I will schedule this in and this is going to be non-negotiable just like you don't want to be late for any appointment or meeting you have with other people it's equally important for me to wake up to spend a good quality time with my own self so I limit my snooze to only once and to make waking up easier is to set a reward I love coffee and even though I can have multiple cups of coffee throughout the day I always limit to one coffee a day to treat this more like a sacred reward that I get to give myself for waking up successfully so identify what you look forward to waking up to and what that reward is for you practice stillness this is the time that I look forward to the most as I get to check in with myself in silence I meditate or I just simply scan the mind and body I ask questions such as what am I thinking now how am I feeling emotionally is my mind cluttered or is it too busy how am I feeling physically is my body fully rested is there any area in my body that feels tense after many trials and errors I learned that practicing stillness is not to clear your mind it is to direct your mind to where it needs to go it's dead plain nudging your mind remember that you have the car to focus your mind energy and attention to which ever it needs the most the busier your life is the more you need to practice stillness set intention our intention creates our reality you have the power to create your day many people with life happen to them rather being active creators with life setting goals at the beginning of your day is a helpful strategy to clarify your intention and not let life happen to you and of course this can be done very very easily while you're brushing your teeth brushing your hair or even applying your favorite skincare products first ask yourself how do I want to feel today what energy do I need to bring to make today special and successful number two state your intention with determination such as I am focused I feel creative I feel very feminine today I am confident I will lead a team with love and care and I'm gonna be changing the office atmosphere with my positive and uplifting energy this simple intention setting practice has changed how I show up in the day to day life I became less reactive and more proactive and I totally ditch that victim mentality and I really started designing the day by setting simple intentions learn and develop personal development sounds really daunting and time consuming but it really doesn't have to be so let's press reset everyone is given 1440 minutes a day equally and out of that making 10 minutes doesn't sound like a lot right the most important part consistency and a helpful way to approach this is to have a goal or a theme for the month or for the week for me there are two things that I'm focusing at the moment one is to learn how to become a surfing leader and second is to become more physically flexible and since the morning is a time where I get to spend the most energy and personal development this I will listen to audiobooks on audible after listening to John Z Maxwell's developing the leader within you which was such a great audio book I'm currently listening to the culture code of which is providing me great insights on how to form a safe space in the office and the best team culture audible has really been a game changer in my personal development journey and they were they test believe it or not we are absorbing way more information than ever yet we barely make time to sit down and digest the information it's kind of like eating so much food without giving your body a chance to digest there is so much rattling around in our brain and we carry that weight around everywhere without knowing that we're just adding too much on our plate and it's just adding another pile to an already cluttered mind so especially after I listen to an audio book where I do a personal development practice I need to take out these five extra minutes to write scribble brain dump journal draw or create anything today just that information and really make it fine you really don't need to censor your thoughts in this process but just be candid just document the feelings and learnings of your personal development practice we would realize you would feel so much clarity after you invested five more minutes of your time just to digest everything move and nourish do one practice that makes you feel good move your body to allow some oxygen to flow in your body you really don't need to follow any hard core workout session if that's not your thing in the morning dance stretch or even just go for a brisk and brief walk every morning to get some fresh air and show your body some love moving your body not only increases your productivity but it also gets your endorphins going and you'll feel much more awake and ready to tackle your day with that extra energy boost I promise so that was my version of how I feel balanced or how I try to achieve the balanced
